Sharon Sue (Jacobs) Dawson Milo, MO, passed away peacefully while surrounded by many of her loved ones on January 21, 2009 at St. John's Medical Center, after a lengthy illness. Sharon was born on January 2, 1949 to parents Victor V. and Mildred M. (Redburn) Jacobs. Sharon attended Nevada schools for her elementary through high school education. She received an Associates Degree from the University of Arkansas. From childhood through adulthood she attend the Nazarene Church in Nevada, MO. When younger, Sharon worked at the Bus Depot and State Hospital in Nevada, MO. Later, she worked as a counseling assistant at Renaissance West in Kansas City, MO. She was the original "flower child" in the 60's and remained very liberal and spiritual throughout her short life. She was intelligent and had the most extensive, awe-inspiring vocabulary. She had a dictionary close at hand at all times. An avid reader, she would always note any word she did not know and learn it. She loved music, especially David Bowie.

Sharon was married for six years to O. R. Dawson II ( Riley ). During their brief marriage they were blessed with two children, Wendy Sue Dawson, Nevada and Stephanie (Dawson) Foley and husband Melvin, of Milo, Missouri. Sharon is also survived by three step-children: Tanya Dawson and husband Ken Warner of Las Cruces, NM, Riley H. Dawson and wife Chu Cheep of Peoria, AZ, and Paula Dawson of Tucson, AZ.; five grandchildren Cassandra Dean Driskel of New Orleans, LA, Jacob K. Dawson-Brown of Compton Junction, MO, Katrina Jean (Driskel) Crawford and husband Seth of Nevada, MO, and Melanie Rae Dawson Foley of Milo, MO.; her parents: Victor and Mildred (Redburn) Jacobs of Nevada, brothers Jim Jacobs and wife Darlene of Denton, Texas, and Steven Jacobs and wife Brenda of Walker, MO., and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Sharon was preceded in death by her youngest sister Cathy Lynn Jacobs and her oldest grandchild, Andy Wayne Dockery.

Memorial services will be held 10:30am Saturday, January 31, 2009 at Evergreen Memorial Chapel (421 Centennial Blvd) with the Reverend Dr. Carolyne Jeane Rhodes officiating. There will not be a formal visitation, however the family welcomes friends to sign the guest book between the hours of 9am-4pm Monday through Friday at Evergreen Memorial Chapel or leave a condolence online at www.evergreenmemorialchapel.com.

Sharon's sponsored charities included Kansas City
Public Television and the Humane Society. The family requests any floral or memorials are made in a monetary donation to Sharon Dawson at Evergreen Memorial Chapel.
