Parks, Norman2005-05-21 Norman Parks, the son of Marvin Van & Dorithy M. Smith Parks, was born March 3, 1934 inSt. Louis, Missouri and passed away on Saturday May 21, 2005 at National Healthcare in Joplin, Missouri at seventy one years of age. He was united in marriage to Nadine McCollum on September 21, 1957 in Hernando, Mississippi and she preceded him in death in 1997. He served in the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. Mr. Parks retired from the Army as a Chief Warrant Officer after over twenty seven years of service. He worked as a hospital engineer for the state of Missouri at Cape Girardeau, Nevada, and Bellfontaine. Survivors include two sons, Maurice Summers of High Ridge, Missouri, Paul L. Parks of St. Genevieve, Missouri; one daughter, Linda K. Hendrix of Moundville, Missouri, and one brother, David L. Parks of Wentzville, Missouri. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his parents. Graveside services with full military honors will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday May 26, 2005 at Fort Scott National Cemetery with C.K. Warden officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Evergreen Memorial Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Army Relief Fund in care of Evergreen Memorial Chapel, P.O.
