Swiney, Charles2005-01-14 Charles (Chuck) Darrell Swiney passed away at the V.A. Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri on January 14, 2005 after a sudden illness. He was born on February 28, 1934 to Charles Thurman Swiney and Flossie May Camden Swiney in Reynolds County, Missouri. He was joined in marriage to Loretta Leimkiller on July 10, 1970.Chuck owned and operated Vernon County Plumbing for many years. He was a Pentecostal minister in Chanute, Kansas and Nevada, Missouri for several years. He was a very loving family man and a very devout Christian. Chuck served in the U.S. Navy from April 1952 to April 1956. He served aboard the U.S.S. Sutherland. He was in the Korean War. He was also stationed in Guam and the Phillippines. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, June, three brothers, Carl, Richard, and Harold Swiney. He is survived by his wife, Loretta, and his mother-in-law, Lois Ross of the home. He is also survived by one sister, Glenna Johnson, Nevada, Missouri, one daughter, Linda Ledbetter, St. Louis, Missouri, four sons, Richard (Rick) Swiney, Vienna, Illinois, David Leimkiller, Nevada, Missouri, William (Bill) Swiney, Yucaipa, California and James (Jim) Swiney of Norco, California, nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, and many neices and nephews also survive. He was loved by many and will be missed by all. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Evergreen Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be Wednesday January 19, 2005 at 3:00 p.m. at Evergreen Memorial Chapel with Pastor Bob Textor, Pastor Rod Hillhouse, and Pastor Richard H. Swiney officiating. Burial with full military honors will be Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Lemay, Missouri. Services are under the direction of Evergreen Memorial Chapel.
