Mabel A. (Demaree) McGee was born June 12, 1916 in Grand Rapids, North Dakota to Clyde
Carlton Demaree and Ida May (Cassady) Demaree. She passed away on Wednesday February 23, 2005 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, Missouri at 88 years of age.

She married Glenn Leslie McGee July 3, 1936 in Fort Scott, Kansas. He preceded her in death
April 6, 1961 at age 46.

She joined the First Christian Church in Wichita, Kansas in 1930. After moving to Nevada,
Missouri in June 1932 with her family, she joined the First Christian Church of Nevada where she was also an active member of the Adult Sunday School Class and The Loyal Builders.

Mabel worked at many jobs during her lifetime including Kraft Cheese Plant, Key Work Clothes for several years, and she was a hotel manager in Las Vegas, Nevada for eighteen months during World War II. Mabel worked for the R-5 School District as a custodian for over twelve years, primarily at Benton School. She was a Nurses Aide at Nevada State Hospital for
approximately thirteen years before she retired.

Mabel always enjoyed traveling and had traveled to 49 of the 50 states with family and friends, then shared pictures and memos with those who weren’t along. Family and friends were always special to her.

Survivors include one brother, Wilbur R. (Frosty) Demaree of Nevada, MO; a special friend,
Janie L. Bowker of Mount Vernon, MO, formerly of Nevada; James D. Russell of Nevada, MO who lived with them for seven years and went to school; many nieces, nephews, and a lot of friends.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter in 1937, her parents, three sisters, Esther L. Williams, Ethel M. Hoffman, and Velma L. Noah, all of Lebanon,
Oregon; three brothers, Earl D. Demaree of Wichita, KS, Carl Demaree of Nevada, MO, and Elmer E. Demaree of Wichita, KS.

Funeral services will be held on Monday February 28, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at Evergreen Memorial Chapel with Rev. Jack Daniels officiating. Burial will follow in Newton Burial Park. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 3:00-5:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or charity of the donor’s choice in care of Evergreen Memorial Chapel, P.O. Box 894, Nevada, MO 64772.
