Jenkins, Oscar D.2005-03-13 Oscar D. Jenkins, the son of Willard Savander & Ruby Grimsley Jenkins, was born February 21, 1918 in El Dorado Springs, Missouri and passed away on Sunday March 13, 2005 at St.John’s Regional Medical Center in Joplin, Missouri at 87 years of age. Mr. Jenkins was a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was united in marriage to the former Eva “Frances” Stephan on June 7, 1951 in Independence, Missouri. He was a Christian and was baptized at Bible Chapel in Longville, Minnesota in Long Lake by Pastor Bill Payne. He was a road construction worker and dealt in heavy equipment, but what he liked to do most was fish. Survivors include his wife, Frances, of the home; a half sister, Mary Jane Jenkins of Joplin, Missouri; fifteen nieces and nephews, and sixteen great nieces and nephews. Mr. Jenkins was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister, Mary Elizabeth Jenkins. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday March 17, 2005 at Evergreen Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in the El Dorado Springs City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Service arrangements are under the direction of Evergreen Memorial Chapel.
