Covey, Opal2005-06-04 Opal Covey, the daughter of Robert A. And Minnie O. (Barger) Simmons, was born August 9, 1915 in Boone County, Arkansas and passed away on Saturday, June 4, 2005 at Moore-Few Care Center at 89 years of age.Mrs. Covey was united in marriage to John I. Covey on November 19, 1939 in Nevada, Missouri and he preceded her in death on December 23, 1999. She was a homemaker and a long-time resident of Nevada, Missouri. She was a member of First Christian Church of Nevada. Survivors include two sons, John Covey, of Nevada, Missouri, Robert Covey, of the state of New Hampshire; one daughter, Cheryl Tedder, of Iola, Kansas; two sisters, Faye Covey, of Ft. Scott, Kansas, Mildred Cartwright, of Plainview, Texas; three sister-in-laws, Betty Simmons of Muskogee, Oklahoma, Helen Simmons of Pittsburg, Kansas, and Laura Sullivan of Independence, Kansas; six grandsons, Robin, Paul and Teddy Covey of the state of New Hampshire, Jarrod Tedder of Iola, Kansas, David and Clinton Covey of Nevada, Missouri; two great-grandsons two step great-grandsons and one step great-granddaughter. She was also preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Dennis Simmons, and Woodrow Simmons. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday June 8, 2005 at Evergreen Memorial Chapel with Pastor Bill Platt officiating. Burial will follow in Newton Burial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Evergreen Memorial Chapel, P.O. Box 894, Nevada, MO 64772.
